Beer release alert: Rock Juice V6.
What a Huge start to 2020! A massive thanks to everyone who came down to support the opening of our new Subiaco premises and who was at the SW beerfest drinking RJ with us.
We’ve had some fantastic feedback about v6, as always we strive to make each batch better than the last….and just quietly, we think the balance in v6 is better than ever. Sadly, we are almost out of RJ at our venues; don’t despair though, there is stock hitting the retailers below this week, get in quick though, as quantities are SUPER limited.
We work really hard on every release, and, as Steve Jobs said in his classic Stanford commencement speech, we don’t settle. Standing still is foolish however growth is uncomfortable, although ultimately rewarding.
Rock Juice continues to deliver both for us, and then some! Last year alone saw a RJv4 recalled, an absolutely stressful and gutting experience for the team, and RJv5 crowned WA’s Best New Beer 2019 by Crafty Pint’s panel of experts.
We know there’s a lot of expectation around Rock Juice and now, more than ever, it’s worth sharing some context.
Rock Juice is an iterative beer that we continue to make with two awesome independent retailers, Cellarbartions Carlisle and Cape Cellars, who have supported Rocky Ridge since day one.
It’s also a big beer in every way. Rock Juice v6 has around 35g/l of dry hops in it, about $4 per can, plus 10.5% abv, which attracts significantly more tax excise, especially when compared to wine, which for RJv6 is around $1.80 per can, or $27 per case. The point of this? It’s going to be more expensive than Bush Chook, and we can’t control some of the reason for that.
Also, Rock Juice was never intended to be thicc / pulpy / hazy / opaque / juicebomb / insert other visual density adjectives here. Rock Juice looks the way it does because we wanted to maximise hop expression, not because we wanted it to appear one way or another. Likewise, getting the best out of different hops means that each iteration will be different visually and taste different - flavours, mouthfeel and so on.
With that in mind, for Rock Juice v6 I’d encourage drinkers to approach it with an open mind, that’s the fun of it. And beer should be fun! Best consumed fresh and sparingly!
