🐉 POSITIVELY METAL | 8.5% | Imperial Red IPA

Positively Metal is the third beast forged for our 9th Birthday series, another imperial beer. This time a Red IIPA, a style we don’t brew nearly often enough, but one we absolutely love when we do. Let us know if you think this should change, practice makes perfect and it’s possible this is our best Red IIPA to date.

This one pours deep ruby red, and with a level of clarity that only years of refinement in technique and process can achieve. We used our locally grown Certified Sustainable Pilsner malt from Tolga Farms with a mix of specialty malts from Weyermann and Simpson’s to provide great structure. Caramel richness, roasted edges and subtle Christmas cake notes provide depth and help to create a seamless drinking experience.

Still very much an IPA, Rakau delivers a hit of red fruit and berry notes, while pine resin and dankness follow in their wake to roll across the palate in thick, amplifying waves. The bitterness is assertive and deliberate mid-palate, with a long warming linger.

• Hops: RR Hop Extract, CTZ, Superdelic, Sabro Cryo, Mosaic Dynaboost, Mosaic Lupomaxx, Cryo Superdelic, Mosaic Hyperboost
• Adjuncts: N/A
• Allergens: Clarex added for gluten reduction
• Fun Fact: Some medieval European dragons were illustrated with scrawny, chicken-like legs, probably because artists had never seen a real reptile move up close. Scholars think it was an early attempt to blend avian and reptilian anatomy.
