On The Tins with Todd Rollings

As part of our Greener Pastures program we have a huge focus on supporting our local community.
We love to do so by assisting great causes and we endeavour to do this as much as possible. It all ties back to our ethos of Better Beer In A Better Way.

In 2019 Todd Rollings (pictured far right) approached us to see if we could supply him with some prizes for a quiz night. After losing a mate to bowel cancer a couple of years prior, Todd and a group of friends banded together to raise funds that go to the Perkins Institute via the Ride For Research, a 200km bike ride from Optus Stadium to Mandurah.

“I am never going to do the ride myself so I needed to do my part to help out” said Todd.

He has done so by organising the quiz night with his mates that has grown year on year.

On it’s inaugural night the quiz raised just over $6,000. No mean feat for what Todd described as a small and loosely organised operation. From there it grew to $8,000 the following year and has continued to grow to the whopping figure of $23,000 that was raised at the 2021 quiz.

For the last 3 years we have donated a bunch of our beer along with an all inclusive Rocky Ridge Brewing Co craft beer experience that consists of a brewery tour and taphouse tasting.

“It’s amazing that you guys have been giving us a hand year on year. It really helps raise the profile of the night. The tickets this year sold out in an hour!”

“Everybody attending gets behind the cause and the Rocky Ridge prize always attracts the highest bids in the silent auction” Todd says.

We couldn’t let Todd get away without throwing down a quiz question to him ourselves though. When asked what his favourite Rocky Ridge beer is he was quick to respond with “Dragon Fire Red IPA is unreal and my favourite Rocky Ridge beer at the moment”.

He also added with a follow up text the next day “upon reflection my all time favourite Rocky Ridge beer was the experimental IIPA #2. The Shape Of Trub To Come was a seriously good beer too”.

After chatting to Todd it is fair to say that there is definitely a mutual respect for each other. He loves our beer and we love what he is doing for such a great cause.

Unfortunately tickets for the event are already exhausted but this just means you will have to get involved next year!
