Description
🦋 IT RUBS THE HAZE ON ITS SKIN | 6.5% | OAT CREAM IPA
It rubs the haze on its skin, or else it gets the hops again.
Put the lotion in the basket and step into the cellar, because this Oat Cream IPA is thick, soft and more than a little unsettling in how easily it goes down. A grist stacked with Certified Sustainable local Pilsner malt, malted oats and rolled oats builds a body you could plaster a wall with, and a measured dose of lactose smooths the edges into something silky and cream-like.
Then the hops arrive from both sides of the Tasman. NZ Cascade, Nectaron and Ella layer up white peach, gooseberry and lime, and Mosaic Hyperboost dials the tropical fruit up to interrogation-room intensity. The wildcard is Kohia Nelson, which isn’t a hop variety at all: Freestyle Hops in Nelson take Nelson Sauvin and Rakau and pelletise them with dried New Zealand passionfruit, so the passionfruit is literally in the pellet. It puts the lotion on. It puts the fruit in the basket. Bitterness is kept to a whisper so the fruit and cream do all the talking.
Pours like a milkshake, drinks like an IPA, finishes like it knows something you don’t. A census taker once tried to test this beer. We had it with a nice Chianti.
